About this deal

Having the ability for manual calibration is something I consider essential in all carbon dioxide monitors, so I am glad to see it here. Personalised advertising may be considered a “sale” or “sharing” of information under California and other state privacy laws, and you may have a right to opt out. The device provides a visual notification or can be set to sound an alarm when high CO2 levels are present as this can cause tiredness, headaches and loss of concentration, conditions that are not suitable for good health and your wellbeing. On this list, devices such as the Aranet4 and Qingping monitors support data exporting and viewing via an app. if the room never goes below 600ppm and automatic baseline calibration is enabled, it will assume that the actual 600ppm atmosphere is 400ppm and thus when the sensor should show, say 1500ppm, it would show 1000ppm.

I see more than 100ppm variations for no apparent reason between the meters and in a short number of days, within the same meter.

So, the higher CO 2 in the room, the more you’re breathing air that someone else has already exhaled. Reproduction is prohibited other than in accordance with the copyright notice, which forms part of these terms and conditions. While we see more variation in readings at this higher carbon dioxide concentration, all monitors still show similar readings and are well within their stated accuracies. The difference, however, is that dual-beam NDIR sensors have a second reference beam normally used once daily. Btw, is the device accesible via app remotely (let’s say via cellular data), if the device is at home/office and connected to WiFi?

This is competitive with the Qingping carbon dioxide monitors and the Vitalight but also falls far short of the Aranet4. For example, did you know a DSEAR assessment applies to all combustion equipment, how many check ventilation, tightness, safety levels, etc. It’s a simple task to use the Aranet4 Home as a Transmission Risk Air Monitor to help you first see and then control and reduce the potential for high levels of Airborne Pathogens. While this might not seem very accurate, as at 800 ppm, the measurement shown could be anywhere between 710 and 890 ppm, I’ve found it to be much more accurate than this in my testing. While I appreciate the large screen on the SmartAir CO2 Monitor, I’ve found the E-ink screens on other carbon dioxide monitors to be better for readability and visibility in bright environments. It monitors the current CO2 concentration in the classroom and clearly signals with coloured lights when ventilation may be needed. I appreciate the inclusion of this mounting hardware, as it makes any of these monitors perfect for office or classroom use. This can also be separately changed for when the device is relying on battery power as opposed to being plugged in. If you’re considering using this device indoors, it’s worth remembering that unless you don’t mind regularly charging it, it’s best suited to be mounted on a wall instead of sitting on a desk or table. If you have a professional CO2 monitor, you can align the readings on the SmartAir Monitor with that by setting an offset.

Since carbon dioxide absorbs the light ( at around 4 microns in wavelength), monitoring how much reaches the other side of the chamber indicates how much carbon dioxide is present in the air.Furthermore, excess indoor carbon dioxide concentrations have been found to lead to stress, kidney calcification, and bone demineralisation – all serious conditions avoidable with good ventilation.

At the end of the day, whether you’re seeing 1400ppm or 1500ppm, both indicate that better ventilation is needed. These quality air monitors measure CO2 levels, temperature, relative humidity and atmospheric pressure in your home and the workplace. A great opportunity to expand your CO2 monitoring network or explore the benefits the ARANET solution provides. The wall mount uses a Security screw that needs a screwdriver with a Torx T15 insert bit to remove it. While it’s a small addition, I appreciate seeing the time on the device, as this isn’t usually available on carbon dioxide monitors. The Qingping Air Monitor’s little brother, the Qingping Air Monitor Lite (they could find a better naming scheme), is also a great choice for a more complete indoor air quality monitor. These investigations resulted in the eponymous Pettenkofer number, which sets a maximum acceptable value of 1,000 ppm for indoor spaces. This is not a cheap gimmick it utilizes a precision NDIR sensor using infrared measurement technology that monitors the concentration of CO2 which you can’t see or smell but the symptoms of inhaling too much CO2 include drowsiness, headaches and poor concentration.
